Just got an e-mail...

Just wanted to let you know that there is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect today until 4pm. We will likely be having bad thunderstorms even if we don't have tornadoes. If the Longview sirens go off, remember that everyone should go to the 1st floor. Thanks!
Yay. I hate this sort of thing. I'd take the possibility of earthquakes over tornadoes any day.

They e-mail you about an incoming tornado?!

My RA did, yes. He was informing the floor that the area was now in tornado watch status.

Your RA... like, for your quad? floor? the whole building? Still... and email warning seems lazy!

Once in NY I lived in a spot with a tornado watch. I took the wee one and went into the basement apartment's alcove, and watched the news across the room. Everyone thought I was nuts, until they zoomed in on where it was, and the radar put it right smack above our housing development. It was tense for a while, but nothing happened, thankfully (us living in the hills and all).

Be safe! (-:

He's our floor RA. This is a nerd school - the fastest way to get a message out to people is to e-mail them. Anyway, the point of the e-mail was to let people know who don't follow the weather (like me) that today there might be a reason to huddle in the first-floor lounge so we all need to listen for the sirens. But now the wind seems to have passed so I think we're ok.
